The beach of Carvoeiro is about a 5 minute drive, but various other nice beaches and seaside resorts such as Benagil, Armação de Pãra, Ferragudo and Portimão are also nearby and offer both beautiful deserted beaches and lively settings with beach bars. Just behind the house is the tennis club of Carvoeiro where you can become a holiday member for a small fee. Tennis courts, padel, mini golf, swimming pool, fitness, massage, a beauty institute and a restaurant offer the necessary (sporting) challenges just a stone’s throw from the house. There is always plenty to do for sports enthusiasts: rent a bicycle, go snorkelling, water skiing or diving. There are three dive centers nearby. Carvoeiro is also a favorite golf destination for many. There are a number of golf courses in the immediate area to choose from. The closest are the two 18 hole courses – Gramacho and Vale da Pinta. There are also fun things to do for the kids. They will love the Zoo Marine Park (dolphins, killer whales, sea lions) 30 minutes away and there is even more action at the Slide & Splash Water Park, or Crazy World all within 15 minutes’ drive. There are also many other attractions for a day trip in the immediate vicinity, such as the town of Silves with its beautiful old castle. The towns of Lagos, Ferragudo and Portimão are approximately 20/30 minutes away. The shopping outlet near the airport and the, closer, recently opened large Retail Park at Alcantarilha offers the necessary cool (air-conditioning) hours of shopping fun for the fashionistas among us.
